Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the delivery of underground copper and gold mining mechanical solutions in Australia. You will own complex scopes across the full project life cycle, from concept studies through to commissioning and operational readiness, with autonomy and technical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex mechanical engineering scopes
• Strong first-principles engineering capability across materials handling and fixed plant infrastructure
• Deep understanding of underground hard rock mining operations and associated constraints
• Strong technical capability in conveyor design and bulk materials handling systems
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design packages for underground mining and materials handling projects
• Perform conveyor design and analysis using Sidewinder and Belt Analyst
• Apply bulk solids handling principles to bins, chutes and ore handling systems
• Develop engineering calculations, specs, datasheets and design reports
• Lead integration of crushing, screening, conveying, dewatering and ventilation systems
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, process and geotechnical teams
• Conduct technical reviews, HAZOPs and design verifications
• Liaise with clients, vendors and site personnel to manage technical deliverables
