Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical and structural design for next‑generation rocket components. You will design, analyze, verify, and document systems, owning end-to-end delivery from conception through qualification within a cutting-edge space environment.

The role requires extensive CAD experience, hands-on hardware work, and proficiency with FEA tools. Collaboration across engineering teams, risk management, and adherence to standards are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 6+ years of aerospace or mechanical design and analysis experience.
• 6+ years designing parts and assemblies using CAD.
• 3+ years with at least one commercial FEA or multiphysics package.
• 6+ years hands-on hardware experience, including fabrication, assembly or testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyse, verify, and document mechanical and structural systems using design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools.
• Own end-to-end product delivery timelines from conception to qualification.
• Define and review hardware test plans for development, qualification and acceptance.
• Interpret requirements to develop mechanical architectures and layouts.
• Analyse test data to inform design decisions and manage technical risk.
• Provide technical review and mentoring to engineering colleagues.

• Design, analyse, verify, and document mechanical and structural systems using a spectrum of design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to deliver structures and mechanical components.
• Own end-to-end product delivery timelines through conception, design, assembly, and qualification.
• Define and review hardware test plans for development, qualification, and acceptance.
• Interpret requirements and specifications to develop mechanical architectures and layouts.
• Analyse test data to inform design decisions and manage technical risk.
• Provide technical review and mentoring support to engineering colleagues in accordance with company and departmental engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
• Exercise sound engineering judgement to resolve complex, time-critical problems under pressure, often with incomplete or evolving information.
• Perform additional duties aligned with role responsibilities as requested.

Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience with aerospace or mechanical design and analysis in a professional setting (excluding internships).
• 6+ years of experience with CAD, designing parts and assemblies.
• 3+ years of experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package.
• 6+ years of hands‑on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, integration and/or testing.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering
• Chartered Engineer (CPEng) and/or RPEQ status, or demonstrated progress toward professional registration.
• Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex aerospace or mechanical systems,
• Analytical/scientific programming experience (Python, Matlab, Excel, etc).
• Experience with multi-disciplinary systems.
• Experience with structural testing.
• Experience with Systems Engineering processes.
• Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
• Eligibility to obtain a NV1 Security Clearance.
