Job summary

You will oversee workshop operations and ensure the reliability of the Council’s fleet, plant and equipment across remote Queensland environments, balancing on‑site repairs with leadership duties. Reporting to leadership, you will supervise mechanics, manage safety and compliance, mentor staff and participate in field service as required.

A trade qualification and Local Government experience are preferred. Offered: $120K–$125K base plus superannuation, six weeks annual leave, personal leave,

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Automotive, Diesel or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics.
• Experience in Local Government or remote communities is preferred.
• Strong leadership, diagnostic and fault‑finding capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanics and coordinate daily workshop operations.
• Maintain and repair Council fleet, plant and equipment.
• Conduct diagnostics, fault finding and breakdown repairs.
• Ensure servicing schedules are met and maintain safety/compliance.
• Mentor staff and provide operational guidance for field repairs.
