Job summary

Regional Group Australia (RGA) is seeking an experienced Truck Mechanic to join the Deer Park Workshop, VIC. The Senior Mechanic will oversee repairs, maintenance, and roadworthy inspections for the fleet, reporting to the Workshop Manager.

You will diagnose faults, service trucks, source parts with cost-efficiency in mind, and drive continuous improvement in safety and workshop practices. This full-time role requires strong teamwork and flexibility, including on-call availability.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified diesel mechanic with experience in heavy vehicle repair.
• Strong drivetrain, brakes and suspension knowledge.
• Basic auto electrical knowledge.
• Competent with computers and digital diagnostics.
• Commitment to Work Health and Safety.
• Professional, flexible and able to improve workshop processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork; on-call availability.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on the truck fleet with quality and safety in mind.
• Service and maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Coordinate with suppliers for parts based on quality and price.
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment; ensure cleanliness and order.
• Plan and maintain service schedules and annual roadworthy tasks.
• Adopt lean practices to improve workshop efficiency and cost control.
• Communicate clearly with managers and staff; participate in toolbox meetings.

We are looking for an experienced Truck Mechanic to join us in our Deer Park Workshop, VIC who is keen to contribute to the continued growth of the business.

About the role:

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Senior Mechanic is responsible for ongoing repairs and maintenance of the RGA fleet. The role will consist of scheduled and priority repairs along with preventative maintenance schedules and annual roadworthy inspections.

Duties include:

• Continues improvement for Safe Work practices.
• Participating in all toolbox meetings.
• Work within workshop rules and regulations at all times.
• Liasing with direct managers, supervisors and managers daily.
• Thoroughly diagnose and repair faults.
• Service and maintain equipment of truck fleet.
• Work to tight schedules whilst maintaining the highest standards.
• Adopt and continue with lean practices to ensure quality and cost efficiency with all repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with planning and maintaining service schedules.
• Coordinating with suppliers sourcing parts on quality and best price.
• Maintaining company tools and equipment.
• Ownership of major repairs, working efficiently whilst maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Challenge yourself with a mindset of best practice and continuous improvement.
• Maintaining professional and clear communication with all company staff.

About you:

• Fully Qualified Diesel Mechanic
• Sound knowledge of drivetrain, brakes and suspension.
• Basic auto electrical knowledge.
• Competent with computers and digital diagnostics.
• Outstanding work ethic and commitment to getting the job done.
• Strong commitment to Work Health and Safety.
• A professional, confident and self-assured person with the ability to
  demonstrate flexibility and apply learnings to improve workshop
  processes.
• A team player who is action focused and result-oriented, who quickly
  comes up to speed on repairs and priority breakdowns.
• Ability to problem solve and engage their peers to achieve best
  possible outcomes.
• Strong communication skills with proven ability to communicate
  effectively with a range of individuals.
• Ability to work flexible hours and ability to be on call.
• RMS Vehicle inspection ticket. Preferred but not essential.
