Job summary

Altis Consulting is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to work with clients in Queensland, shaping business problems into technical data solutions. You will design scalable data platforms, pipelines and analytics, while collaborating with teams across Databricks, Snowflake and Azure ecosystems.

You will mentor consultants, lead projects or small tech teams, and build trusted relationships with stakeholders, balancing technical excellence with business value.

Qualifications

• Strong experience across data engineering, architecture or analytics consulting and comfortable operating directly with clients.
• Experience across modern data engineering and data modelling.
• Cloud data platforms - Databricks, Snowflake, Azure or comparable technologies.
• Databricks experience essential.
• SQL and modern data integration/ELT patterns.
• Data quality, governance and sustainable engineering practices.
• Leading projects or small technical teams.
• Consulting, advisory or client-facing delivery.

At Altis Consulting, we're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer who enjoys being close to both the technology and the client.

This is a role for someone who can take a business problem, shape the right technical approach, and lead it through to a practical outcome. You'll work across modern data platforms and engineering solutions while building trusted relationships with clients and helping develop the consultants around you.

You don't need to have worked with every technology we use. We're more interested in strong foundations, sound technical judgement and an ability to learn.

The person we're looking for

You enjoy solving ambiguous problems, can challenge thinking respectfully and know when a technically impressive solution isn't necessarily the right business solution.

You'll be comfortable talking architecture with engineers one minute and explaining the value of the solution to an executive stakeholder the next.
