Job summary

The Hospital Research Foundation Group invites applications for a Senior Manager Risk and Compliance to lead the risk and compliance function within a purpose-driven not-for-profit. You will oversee the Enterprise Risk Management program, partner with executives to assess risks, ensure governance and regulatory alignment, and embed responsible AI-enhanced processes across risk, compliance and contracts.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in law, risk, compliance, governance.
• Experience leading risk management and/or compliance frameworks.
• Experience reviewing contracts and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise risk management and non-clinical compliance frameworks, registers, methodologies and reporting.
• Monitor significant, emerging and systemic risks, compliance obligations, incidents, breaches and remediation, providing clear analysis and recommendations to senior leaders.
• Review and triage contracts, agreements and other commercial arrangements, identifying material risks and recommending when external legal advice is required.
• Strengthen organisational controls and assurance through reviews, audits, self-assessments, privacy support and follow-up of agreed actions.
• Oversee Folio, Law Compliance and associated workflows, dashboards and data quality, using insights to support effective decision-making.
• Lead and develop the Risk and Compliance Coordinator while building a practical, accountable and improvement-focused risk culture across the Group.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Manager Risk and Compliance provides leadership, oversight and specialist advice across enterprise risk management, non-clinical compliance and assurance. You will lead the risk and compliance function, manage the Risk and Compliance Coordinator, oversee THRF Group’s risk and compliance platforms, and support leaders to confidently identify, assess and manage organisational risks and obligations.

You will strengthen controls and reporting, review and triage contracts and agreements against approved requirements and the Group’s risk appetite, and help implement the Group’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy by embedding responsible, human-supervised AI tools into risk, compliance and contract review processes. This influential role suits a practical, commercially aware professional who can translate complex requirements into clear guidance, build organisational capability and provide well-considered recommendations to senior executives. The position may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the successful applicant’s skills and experience.

About you

You will bring demonstrated experience as a risk, compliance or governance leader who combines sound judgement with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. You can engage confidently with executives and translate complex matters into practical action. You will also bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in law, risk, compliance, governance or a related discipline.


• Demonstrated recent experience leading risk management and/or compliance frameworks, ideally within a complex or regulated organisation.


• Experience reviewing contracts, legislative obligations or regulatory requirements, and understand when external specialist legal advice is needed.


• Strong analytical, written and reporting skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.


• Experience leading and developing staff and working with enterprise risk or compliance systems.


• High integrity and accountability, with sound professional judgement.


• Confidence in using emerging technology responsibly within appropriate governance controls.
