Job summary

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, seeks a Senior Manager Property Data Information Compliance to lead governance and compliance across property data, ensuring lawful, ethical access and use while supporting risk management.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading compliance, governance, contract management, audit or regulatory functions within a complex environment.
• Strong understanding of information governance, compliance frameworks and legislative obligations relating to information access, privacy, contracts or data management.
• Proven ability to provide strategic advice on complex and sensitive issues and influence decision-making at senior levels.
• Experience developing organisational policies, frameworks and governance arrangements that balance compliance obligations with operational outcomes.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across government, industry and executive audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including building high-performing teams, mentoring staff and driving continuous improvement.
• Current Australian driver licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead Value NSW's approach to property data information compliance, ensuring the lawful, ethical and defensible access, release and use of property data.
• Provide strategic leadership across governance, compliance, licensing, audit and assurance activities while supporting the organisation to realise value from property data, manage risk and maintain public confidence.
• Work closely with executive stakeholders, government agencies and industry partners, you will provide expert advice on complex compliance matters, oversee data access and licensing arrangements, and drive frameworks that promote transparency, accountability and best practice.
• Lead a specialist team and build organisational capability to support contemporary approaches to information governance, risk management and compliance.

In this role, you will lead Value NSW's approach to property data information compliance, ensuring the lawful, ethical and defensible access, release and use of property data. What you will bring to the role

About us

Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes but is not limited to:

• Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum
• Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum - receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries
• Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
  

In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners - including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer’s Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
