Job summary

Randstad is seeking a Design Manager/Major Projects Manager to lead one of Victoria's premier electrical design teams in Melbourne. You will drive strategic growth across data centres, renewable energy, battery storage, and major infrastructure while mentoring engineers and building industry relationships.

The role combines leadership with technical and commercial oversight, ensuring delivery of high-quality design services to clients and adherence to Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Proven Leadership: experience managing and leading design teams.
• Professional credentials: Engineers Australia membership and RPEV registration.
• Project & Commercial acumen: managing budgets and multiple projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design Business Unit's capability, technical excellence, and commercial performance.
• Mentor and develop electrical designers and engineers; manage resource planning.
• Oversee design services delivery to meet quality, safety, and client expectations per AS/NZS 3000.
• Lead expansion of Major Projects across data centres, renewables, and infrastructure.
• Cultivate relationships with developers, distribution businesses, transmission companies, AEMO, and VicGrid.
• Manage team budgeting, utilisation, and forecasting for strong financial outcomes.
