Job summary

SME Powered Services in Melbourne is seeking a Project Design Coordinator (Electrical Engineer) to support major electrical infrastructure, data centre, industrial and commercial construction projects. You will coordinate electrical design packages, review drawings, and ensure alignment between design intent and delivery, working closely with project managers, consultants, and clients.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering and 3-8 years' experience in design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 3-8 years' experience in electrical design, project engineering, design coordination, or design management.
• Experience within construction, infrastructure, industrial, building services, or EPC environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and Australian Standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent organisational, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and with engineering document management systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate electrical design packages across all stages of project delivery.
• Review and manage drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with project requirements, client expectations, legislation, and Australian Standards.
• Facilitate design coordination between electrical systems and other project disciplines.
• Provide technical support throughout design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Resolve technical issues, design conflicts, and constructability challenges.
• Manage RFIs, design changes, technical queries, and engineering documentation.
• Support project planning by identifying design risks, dependencies, and critical interfaces.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
