The Senior Manager, IT Operations and Infrastructure provides strategic technical leadership across VIDA’s enterprise technology environment, with a particular focus on Microsoft 365 technologies, document and records management systems, and business technology services including desktop, end-user computing and audio visual services.

Reporting to the Director, I&T Service Operations, the role is accountable for setting technical direction, shaping service roadmaps and ensuring these technologies are secure, reliable, well governed and aligned with VIDA’s organisational priorities. The role leads multidisciplinary teams and managed service providers responsible for the design, operation, integration and ongoing improvement of enterprise platforms and workplace technology services.

Working closely with senior executives, project offices, vendors and Victorian Government stakeholders, the Senior Manager provides authoritative technical advice and leads the assessment and resolution of complex technology and business service challenges. The role influences strategic investment decisions, manages technology risk and ensures that platform capabilities are effectively translated into improved organisational outcomes and employee experience.

Brings strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies, electronic document and records management platforms, desktop and end-user computing environments, and enterprise audiovisual services.

Can operate confidently at both strategic and technical levels, setting direction and governance while maintaining sufficient technical depth to challenge proposed solutions, assess risks and guide complex platform, integration and service decisions.

Brings strong commercial judgement and extensive experience leading multidisciplinary technology teams and managed service providers. Can translate organisational needs into practical technology roadmaps, sustainable service models and measurable improvements in service performance, security, reliability and user experience.

You’ll bring:
  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic technical leadership across complex enterprise technology environments.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience across Microsoft 365 technologies, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, identity, collaboration, automation and platform governance.
  • Strong experience with electronic document and records management platforms, including their architecture, integration, governance, security and ongoing operation.

  • The ability to develop technical strategies, platform roadmaps, service architectures and sustainable operating models aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Strong capability to assess complex technical proposals, challenge solution designs, manage technology risk and provide authoritative advice to senior executives.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary internal teams and external service providers, with a focus on technical quality, service performance, governance and continuous improvement.
  • Strong commercial, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills across executives, business leaders, technical specialists and vendors.
  • A practical, customer-focused and delivery-oriented approach, supported by sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience leading the review, analysis and alignment of technology and business support systems across complex organisations and stakeholder groups, ensuring effective integration and delivery of organisational outcomes.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex organisational technology and business support requirements and lead the procurement, implementation, customisation and optimisation of enterprise systems and services within complex operating environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence, with the ability to identify, anticipate and respond to organisational technology and business support needs, while effectively managing service issues, risks and stakeholder expectations to deliver organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and finalise high-quality strategic, governance and executive documentation and to establish, maintain and influence relationships across all levels within complex organisational environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to assess and analyse complex organisational challenges, foresee potential risks and identify and evaluate options that support performance improvements.
  • Exceptional negotiating and influencing skills, with a proven track record of leading organisational change, technology transformation and business improvement initiatives across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and demonstrated ability to determine priorities, allocate resources effectively and meet work demands in an environment of tight and conflicting deadlines.
