Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior Manager, Data, Digital & AI – Business Controls & Monitoring within the Business & Wealth division. You will strengthen the risk and control environment for data, digital and AI initiatives while aligning with customer, regulatory, and commercial objectives.

You will provide strategic risk guidance, collaborate with Technology, risk functions and Audit, and drive governance enhancements. This 18‑month max term role offers a hybrid Sydney/Melbourne work model.

Qualifications

• Experience in operational risk, compliance, assurance, legal, or business controls within financial services.
• Experience working within Data, Digital, Technology, Responsible AI, or transformation environments.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, governance, and regulatory obligations.
• Experience conducting control reviews, quality assessments, deep dives, or assurance activities and driving improvements to control effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic risk advice and thought leadership across data, digital, AI, and technology-related risks.
• Partner with business leaders, Technology teams, second line risk functions, and Group Audit to identify emerging risks and strengthen controls.
• Drive uplift of the control environment through targeted reviews, deep dives, quality assessments, and governance enhancements.
• Advise on emerging AI and digital risks and help build strong risk awareness across the division.
