The Future Fund is Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, managing over $355 billion across seven public asset funds with the same purpose: growing Australia’s future. We are a global investor and work closely with world leading investment organisations to access the best investment ideas.

We’ve got every future generation to consider, yet our approach to investing is incredibly pure: we think about it deeply, and daily. Ours is a culture where great people grow the future together, with the rare ability to work collaboratively, think freely, and make a real difference.

Are you Futureminded? Let’s create what’s next.

The Opportunity

The Senior Manager – COO Office will help shape and execute strategy across the Data, Operations & Technology (DOT) Group. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, COO Office, you will work directly with the Chief Operating Officer, the DOT Leadership Team and colleagues across the COO Office to bring clarity to complex, multi-dimensional business challenges.

Spanning the full strategy management lifecycle, this role combines strategic thinking with practical execution. You will support group and COO Office strategy, lead business planning, develop business architecture artefacts, help evolve operating models, and strengthen the reporting, governance and business management disciplines that enable DOT to deliver on its purpose of ‘Working Together to Enable Investing’.

This is an opportunity for an experienced strategy professional who is curious, analytically strong and comfortable working in a changing environment. You will co-design pragmatic solutions with senior stakeholders and make responsible use of Agency AI capabilities where they improve analysis, synthesis, insight generation or the accessibility of strategic work.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the DOT strategy, and help cascade it into the COO Office strategy.
  • Coordinate the annual business planning process across DOT, working with business units and specialist teams on initiatives, budgets, workforce planning and resource management.
  • Develop and maintain business architecture artefacts, including capability models, value streams, business processes, information concepts and organisational relationships, and apply them to strategic and organisational decisions.
  • Support operating model analysis and design, including current-state assessment, options analysis, documentation, frameworks, tools and governance practices.
  • Research market developments and leading practices, build relationships with peer organisations and translate intelligence into actionable insights for DOT strategy and planning.
  • Develop performance dashboards and management reporting for the COO, DOT leadership, senior leaders, the Chief Executive Officer and the Board.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions, workshops and collaborative design processes that help senior stakeholders explore complex issues, align perspectives and reach clear outcomes.
About You

You are an experienced strategy professional who can move confidently between conceptual thinking and practical delivery. You enjoy solving complex business problems, bring structure to ambiguity and communicate clearly with executive and middle-management stakeholders.

You’ll bring:
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience across strategy management, business architecture, business performance or business management.
  • Direct strategy management experience gained in financial services, preferably investment management or securities servicing.
  • Experience in a top-tier global consulting firm and/or a comparable role within a financial institution. Consulting experience is preferred.
  • Strong research and analytical capability, with a record of synthesising information from multiple sources into meaningful insights and pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience creating and maintaining frameworks, methodologies and tools for strategy management, business planning, business architecture or operating model management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and applying capability models, value streams, and current-state and future-state views to support strategic choices, prioritisation, organisational design and change.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including confidence working with senior executives.
  • The ability to use Agency AI capabilities responsibly and effectively, applying sound judgement, validation and appropriate information-handling requirements.
  • Composure, adaptability and a collaborative, consultative style, with the ability to remain effective in a busy and evolving environment.
  • Experience in business architecture, product management or operating model management will be highly valued.

Please note that the opportunity is open to Australian citizens only.
