Job summary

Hume City Council in Melbourne is seeking a Manager City Parks and Open Space to lead a team of about 70 staff and oversee turf, horticulture, urban forest and parks asset management. The role reports to the Director Assets, Operations and Sustainability and guides departmental strategy and service delivery.

You will drive strategic and operational planning, contractor performance, financial management and capital projects, aligning resources with community expectations and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• Substantial leadership experience in parks, open space, public realm or equivalent operational service.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary and field-based teams, managing complex contracts and projects.
• Ability to translate technology investments into improved works management, reporting and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to City Parks and Open Spaces.
• Oversee departmental strategy, operational and capital planning, and contractor performance.
• Manage financials, service improvements and delivery of parks-related capital projects.
• Build collaborative relationships with Councillors, community members and contractors.
