Job summary

Westpac Group in Sydney, NSW, Australia, is seeking a Senior Manager, Distribution Risk, Business & Wealth Risk to lead risk oversight across distribution channels. You will partner with senior stakeholders to deliver effective governance, enable change, and provide independent challenge.

You will work with senior leaders across customer-facing teams nationally, applying a strong risk lens from design through implementation, escalating material risks and preparing governance reports for risk

What’s the role?

Take on a high-accountability leadership role helping shape the risk priorities acrossBusiness & Wealth distribution channels. As a senior member of the Divisional Risk team, you’ll have end-to-end responsibility for partnering with stakeholders to deliver effective oversight, support strategic decisions and enable change.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders of our customer facing teams nationally, providing practical advice, independent oversight and constructive challenge.

Business Lending and/or frontline banking experience is highly preferred and will be valuable in supporting the role’s broad remit.

• Lead oversight or risk management and transformational change: Contribute as a strong member of the Divisional Risk team, executing oversight activities across Business & Wealth in line with Group strategy, policies and frameworks, delegations, risk appetite and Westpac’s Risk Management Framework.
• Provide second-line oversight: Deliver effective advice, oversight and challenge across Risk & Control uplift, Issue and Incident Management and help shape and support key risk management programs of work.
• Own stakeholder outcomes: Take end-to-end responsibility for working with senior stakeholders to identify priorities, coordinate responses, resolve issues and embed sustainable risk outcomes.
• Enable transformation: Play a key role in transformational change by applying a strong risk lens from design through implementation, anticipating impacts and ensuring risks and controls are effectively addressed.
• Escalate key matters: Apply sound judgement to identify and elevate material risks, issues and emerging themes to the Head of Divisional Risk.
• Prepare clear, insightful non-financial risk and governance reports for senior Risk leaders.

This is an 18-month max term opportunity based in Sydney, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

What do I need?

• Strong experience in risk management in either a Line 1, Line 2 or Audit function.
• A proven ability to build trusted senior stakeholder relationships, work across organisational boundaries and influence senior stakeholders through constructive, evidence-based challenge.
• Experience in customer facing roles, potentially in business lending roles is strongly preferred.
