Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science & AI in Sydney to lead the design and delivery of applied AI within Global Markets. This hands-on role aligns advanced modelling with commercial objectives to create measurable business impact.

You will mentor graduates, lead technical teams and partner with stakeholders to ensure safe, responsible outcomes while driving AI initiatives into production and operational use.

Qualifications

• Deep technical expertise in AI/ML with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end AI initiatives from inception to production.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL with hands-on delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI initiatives end to end, from problem definition and experimentation through production deployment and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Set technical direction while staying on the tools.
• Translate complex commercial and markets problems into scalable machine learning and agentic AI solutions.
• Establish modelling, validation, governance and monitoring to meet risk requirements in a regulated environment.
• Partner with business, engineering, risk and governance teams and external partners to deliver safe outcomes.
• Develop data scientists and graduates through coaching, mentoring and technical leadership.
• Drive integration between AI delivery, engineering practice and business processes.
• Influence senior stakeholders by connecting technical decisions to commercial value and strategic outcomes.
• Design delivery patterns that are commercially viable and scalable.
