Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer/AI Engineer to design, develop and deploy AI solutions across multiple Australian states (QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW). The role involves taking AI initiatives from PoC to production, building production ML capabilities, and applying NLP, Computer Vision and Generative AI techniques in a government/regulatory context.

The candidate will implement MLOps practices, use AWS and other cloud platforms, and contribute to serverless delivery with AWS CDK.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer or similar.
• Proven experience delivering AI/ML models and solutions from experimentation/POC through to production.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch and Transformer-based models.
• Experience with NLP, LLMs and classical machine learning.
• Experience developing Computer Vision models, including CNNs and/or VLMs.
• Strong understanding of MLOps and DevOps practices, including experiment tracking and tools such as MLflow.
• Experience working with commercial cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Relevant ICT qualifications and/or industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, evaluate and deploy machine learning and AI solutions.
• Take AI/ML initiatives from Proof of Concept through production and operational use.
• Develop and maintain production ML capabilities within a multidisciplinary team.
• Apply NLP, Transformer models, Computer Vision and classical ML techniques to solve business problems.
• Implement and support MLOps practices, including experiment tracking, evaluation, monitoring and operationalisation.
• Deliver AI and automation solutions using AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Contribute to AWS serverless application delivery, with AWS CDK experience highly desirable.
• Prepare PoC reports, technical documentation, evaluation papers and recommendations.
• Support knowledge transfer to internal personnel and improve organisational AI capability.
• AWS CDK / Infrastructure-as-Code, AWS Lambda and serverless technologies, CI/CD and DevOps, MLflow, LLMs and Generative AI, Computer Vision / VLMs, Government/regulatory environments.

What we need from you:
