Job summary

Profectus is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support the delivery and sustainment of secure ICT environments within Defence. You will be responsible for the design, configuration, documentation, operation, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, working alongside peers of differing specialisation within a wider systems team.

It is a hands‑on role in a highly secure environment where reliability, security, and performance matter.

Qualifications

• RHCSA certification or a closely related degree.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration.
• Proven expertise administering RHEL, including system configuration and support.
• Unrestricted ability to deploy to Australian Defence Force installations.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, support, and maintain RHEL components across physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Manage and document the configuration of RHEL systems to baselines.
• Manage virtualization tools such as VMware and configure VMs supporting critical apps.
• Troubleshoot faults and coordinate with peer teams for resolution.
• Contribute designs and knowledge to repositories; support policy, processes, and procedures.
• Participate in CABs and implement changes using IT service management tools.
• Provide platform deployment and support, including potential out‑of‑hours work.
• Handle information per Commonwealth DSPF and ISM policies; protect IP and comply with defence obligations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and take team‑lead roles when directed.
