Job summary

Montgomery is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its technology practice, advising on technology transactions, data privacy, cybersecurity and AI issues. The role is highly autonomous, leading client engagements and shaping legal strategy across Australia.

You will influence stakeholders, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the growth of AI-related offerings while enjoying flexible and remote work arrangements based in major Australian cities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' post-admission experience in private practice or in-house.
• Strong experience advising on SaaS, cloud, licensing, procurement and data arrangements.
• Genuine interest in AI and emerging technology.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to lead matters independently.
• Willingness to mentor colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; Australian admission and full working rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements within the technology practice and set strategic direction.
• Develop legal strategy, manage risk and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
• Advise on technology transactions, data privacy, cybersecurity and AI-related issues.
• Support business development and contribute to new AI-related legal offerings.
