Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within Tax or Litigation.
  • Proficiency in e-filing, expenses & billing systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as court documents and agreements.
  • Manage files, including opening and archiving.
  • Handle billing processes and timesheet input.

MJD Recruitment is excited to be working with a prestigious global law firm based in Melbourne CBD. The firm is searching for an experienced Legal Assistant to join their growing Tax team. The Role:

In this role, you will be supporting 2 Partners and their team, who are described as being collaborative, and encouraging with a team first approach. You will be proficient in the following responsibilities:

  • Drafting and preparing legal documents – non-disclosure agreements, cost agreements, court documents, lease and sale agreements, briefs for counsel, letters of demand, letters of engagement, affidavits, letters of instruction
  • File management – Opening new matters, conflict checks, maintaining, closing and archiving files
  • Billing and timesheet input – End-of-month billing, client reporting, timesheets and expenses
  • Diary and travel management – Coordinate complex diaries, diarising court dates & deadlines and organising travel both international & national
  • Client and stakeholder communication – Liaise with clients, lawyers, counsel, barristers, etc.
  • Event coordination – Assist with organising team events and functions
  • Inbox and correspondence management – Prioritise and organise key communications

Do you have the following skillset?

  • 2 + years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within Tax or Litigation, however, all areas of law will be considered
  • Strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in e-filing, expenses & billing systems – Experience with legal software is an advantage (iManage, Aderant, LEAP, Elite 3E, Chrome River)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent attention to detail & ability to prioritise workloads and meeting strict deadlines
