Job summary

Australian Attorney-General's Department – Canberra ACT is seeking high-performing lawyers to join our Commercial team as a Senior Lawyer. You will work on significant and high-profile matters, provide strategic advice to Commonwealth clients, and contribute to legal outcomes shaping government decision-making and Australian law.

Qualifications

• extensive legal experience with proven ability to develop precise legal arguments and draft high-quality written advice in complex matters
• experience supervising and growing capability in junior legal practitioners
• ability to work in time-recording environments and under pressure
• strong client service, relationship-building and communication skills
• security clearance (NV2) or higher, willingness to obtain and maintain it

Responsibilities

• deliver high-quality legal services to Commonwealth clients on significant national transactions and projects
• advise on policies and programs of national importance
• build trusted client relationships and mentor junior lawyers
• collaborate within a national legal practice to support complex matters
