Job description

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Lawyers to join our Office of General Counsel.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will provide legal advice and dispute resolution services across a range of general law matters affecting ATO operations. You will analyse, interpret and apply legislation, policies, legal principles and precedent to resolve complex legal issues and provide strategic legal advice to senior leaders and business partners.

You will identify, evaluate and manage complex or sensitive legal matters, exercise a high degree of judgement and autonomy, and take ownership of legal outcomes. You will influence decision-making across the organisation and support the effective management of legal risk.

Leading a small team, you’ll develop staff capability and mentor less experienced lawyers.

These roles may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Melbourne CBD or Sydney CBD.

We embrace the strength of diversity – through our people and the perspectives they bring.

We are committed to inclusive recruitment practices and encourage applications from people with disability or neurodivergence, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and individuals from all backgrounds. Reasonable adjustments can be provided throughout the selection process.
