Job summary

Lanson Partners is partnering with a large Australian enterprise on an engineering transformation program that uses AI to automate software maintenance, testing and dependency upgrades across a Java/Spring Boot API estate. The Senior Engineer will be hands-on, solving complex backend problems at the intersection of Java, automated testing and AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Java/Spring Boot engineering.
• Experience building APIs and microservices.
• Automated testing across unit/integration/contract tests.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, WireMock or Pact.
• Hands-on use of AI coding agents on real codebases.
• Strong Maven/Gradle and CI/CD/Git usage.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot services in a microservices environment.
• Develop automated unit, integration and contract tests.
• Use AI coding agents to help generate and maintain tests.
• Review AI-generated code and tests for quality.
• Manage dependencies and upgrades in Java and Spring.
• Troubleshoot build issues and CI/CD pipelines.
