Job description

Our client, a large Federal Government Agency, is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to oversee the planning and integration of key ICT-based solutions, specifically related to the agency's core Business System (Salesforce).

This role requires strong leadership in managing projects while collaborating with various internal and external teams to ensure the successful delivery of technical solutions.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate technical solution planning activities for new capabilities and features requested by the business, working alongside Architecture, specialist delivery teams within the Technology Services Division (TSD), and agency vendors.
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule and TSD plan, balancing technical dependencies and business requirements.
  • Deliver all technical components of the project solution, developing system and solution architecture, cybersecurity architecture, and managing other technology delivery aspects.
  • Manage delivery partners for system implementation, including agency teams, Services Australia teams, and commercial vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and delivery teams to monitor the status of day-to-day delivery during sprints and serve as the TSD point of escalation for resolving technical issues.
  • Represent the project in TSD ICT Change Management activities and release planning.
  • Ensure compliance with TSD standards, including Cyber assessments, penetration testing, and Go/No-Go gates.
  • Apply DevOps principles to enhance quality and reliability in areas such as release processes and automated regression testing.
  • Actively manage project delivery using TSD's standard Project Management tool, including the management of plans, risks, issues, and key decisions.
  • Publish weekly TSD status reports and review them with the Scheme Platforms Integration & Data Director.
  • Foster a positive collaborative environment with business and delivery partners.
  • Provide ICT delivery leadership, ensuring adherence to delivery methods and championing continuous improvement across the team.
  • Experience with systems delivered on MuleSoft and Salesforce platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering technical ICT Business System projects.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry recognised project management certifications (e.g., Diploma of Project Management or SAFe Agile).
  • Proven experience managing outsourced systems delivery providers.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary project management methodologies, system delivery frameworks, and governance practices.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in project management within Federal or State Government sectors.
  • Understanding of accessible design and development principles.
