Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Sydney is seeking a Senior IP Core Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage IP networks in the telecom domain. You will configure routers, switches, firewalls, and security controls while maintaining documentation and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will lead network design initiatives, audit IP address usage, monitor performance, and perform regular maintenance and patching to ensure stability and security across Capgemini's client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, telecommunications, engineering, or related field.
• Cisco CCIE/CCNA/CCNP are highly valued.
• Strong understanding of IP protocols (OSPF, BGP) and networking concepts.
• Experience designing telecom network architectures, IP-based mobile core networks.
• Familiarity with data center fabric technologies including ACI and EVPN-VXLAN.
• Telco-grade firewalls and security policy management (Fortinet, F5, Checkpoint).
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network issues.
• Understanding of network security principles and technologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.

Your role

As an IP Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing IP networks within the telecom domain. You'll ensure secure, stable, and high-performing infrastructure by configuring network devices, troubleshooting issues, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet technical requirements.

You will play a key role in:

• Planning, designing, and deploying IP networks in the telecom domain.
• Configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
• Applying and maintaining security policies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and network access control (NAC).
• Diagnosing and resolving network issues to maintain stability and performance.
• Creating and maintaining documentation for network configurations, procedures, and policies, aligned with industry standards.
• Partnering with IT professionals and stakeholders to meet network requirements.
• Auditing and managing IP addresses to ensure proper allocation and usage.
• Tracking performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing configurations.
• Conducting regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching to enhance system stability and security.
• Implementing safeguards to protect infrastructure and data from unauthorized access.
• Represent Capgemini to the client and provide technical leadership to remaining Network engineers on the client engagement

Your profile

• A bachelor's degree or tertiary qualification in computer science, telecommunications, engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco (CCIE, CCNA, CCNP) are highly valued.
• Strong understanding of IP protocols (including OSPF, BGP), networking concepts, and technologies.
• Experience designing and implementing telecom network architectures, primarily IP-based mobile core network. Re-designing and implementing network flows based on the project requirements.
• Familiarity with data center fabric technologies including ACI and EVPN-VXLAN.
• Design and configuration of telco grade firewalls and security policy management, preferably Fortinet, F5 and checkpoint firewalls.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively.
• Understanding of network security principles and technologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
