Job summary

Software at Scale is seeking an AI-empowered Senior iOS Engineer to take ownership of a high-scale, banking-grade mobile app. You will lead modernization using the latest Swift, implement hardware-backed security, and ensure robust API integration for a secure user experience.

You will work in a high-trust, empowered environment and have access to enterprise GenAI tooling, including Claude Code, to accelerate refactoring and feature delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven history designing and scaling large iOS apps.
• Deep expertise in modern Swift (SwiftUI, Combine, concurrency).
• Commercial background in banking/fintech mobile apps with secure tokenisation.
• Experience with high-volume API integration and network security.
• Focus on app performance, battery life, and offline data sync.
• Practical use of Claude Code and AI tooling to accelerate development.

Responsibilities

• Lead native app modernization using latest Swift libraries and architectures.
• Architect banking-grade security including iOS Keychain and Passkeys flows.
• Ensure stability and security for high-volume financial transactions and credit card entry.
• Orchestrate integration with a large backend of REST/GraphQL microservices.
• Optimize performance, memory, and rendering under heavy load.
• Leverage Claude Code and AI tools to speed refactoring and feature delivery.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions) for secure App Store releases.

The Role & The Challenge

We are seeking an exceptional, highly proactive AI-Empowered Senior iOS Engineer (proficient in modern Swift) to take our existing high-scale iOS application to the next level. This is a massive-scale upgrade mandate for a financial-grade digital platform handling high volumes of sensitive financial transactions and credit card data.

If you are content with picking up standard UI tickets, this is not the role for you. We want an elite iOS specialist who understands banking-grade security inside and out. You will step into a high-trust, fully empowered environment where you are expected to take complete technical ownership of the app's native architecture, security posture, and high-performance API integration layers.

AI Access & Claude Code: We actively encourage our engineers to solve problems using AI. You will have full access to enterprise GenAI tooling, including Claude Code, to accelerate refactoring, code generation, and pipeline management.

Key Responsibilities

• Native App Modernisation: Spearhead the deep architectural upgrade of our existing iOS application, leveraging the absolute latest Swift libraries, frameworks, SwiftUI, Combine, and structured concurrency.
• Banking-Grade Mobile Security: Architect bulletproof security controls. Implement hardware-backed key management using the iOS Keychain, secure storage of payment tokens, and seamless Passkey (WebAuthn) authentication flows.
• High-Scale Financial Transactions: Ensure uncompromised stability, speed, and data protection for large-scale financial transactions and direct credit card entry pathways.
• Complex API Integration: Orchestrate high-throughput, secure communication layers integrating a massive suite of backend REST and GraphQL microservices with minimal latency.
• Performance & Efficiency: Optimise memory footprints, thread execution, and network rendering to guarantee ultra-efficient, butter-smooth app processing under heavy load.
• AI-Driven Engineering: Extensively utilise Claude Code and modern agentic tools to test, refactor, and build out native features faster.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Maintain automated mobile CI/CD pipelines (Fastlane, GitHub Actions) for seamless, secure App Store distributions and automated testing suites.

What You Bring

• Large-Scale Mobile Experience: Proven commercial history of designing, building, and scaling large-scale consumer or enterprise iOS apps used by millions.
• Swift Mastery: Deep, hands-on expertise in modern Swift (SwiftUI, Combine, structured concurrency) using the absolute latest platform libraries and ecosystem standards.
• Fintech Security Expertise: Mandatory commercial background in banking or financial services mobile apps. You have direct, hands-on experience handling credit card entry compliance, secure tokenisation, and implementing Passkeys alongside iOS Keychain encryption.
• API Integration Pro: Extensive experience managing complex network layers, certificate pinning, payload encryption, and integrating a high volume of enterprise APIs.
• Performance Obsession: A rigorous focus on app efficiency, battery optimisation, smooth frame rendering, and offline-first data synchronisation.
• AI Fluency: Practical experience using Claude Code and AI tooling to accelerate mobile development workflows.
