Job summary

Clyde & Co Australia in Sydney is seeking an experienced commercial litigator (5–8 PQE) to join the Sydney team and work with Partner Luke O’Kane on complex, high-value insurance disputes and major loss matters.

You will handle matters from incident to litigation, gain exposure to catastrophic injury and fatality claims, product liability, regulatory investigations and multi‑party disputes, and contribute to strategic coverage advice while supervising junior lawyers.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial litigation experience gained within a leading private practice environment in Australia or overseas;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with counsel, clients and other parties across complex and multi-party litigation;
• Precise, clear and commercially focused drafting skills;
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities to a consistently high standard;
• A collaborative approach, combined with the confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of matters;
• Commercial awareness and an ability to understand clients’ businesses, build trusted relationships and contribute to the development of those relationships; and
• At the more senior level, the ability to supervise and delegate effectively, support the development of junior lawyers and contribute positively to the broader team.

Responsibilities

• Work with Partner and national practice lead Luke O’Kane on complex, high-value insurance disputes and major loss matters.
• Provide strategic coverage advice and assist in managing a portfolio of coverage and defence matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to the development of the broader team.
