Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Principal Incident Response Analyst to lead cyber security incident response within the CSIRT team. You will coordinate complex investigations, guide threat hunting and forensics, and work closely with MSSPs and internal stakeholders.

Based in Kensington, Sydney, the role offers a hybrid work arrangement with 2–3 days in the office and excellent salary packaging. You will influence security strategy and drive improvements across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years of industry experience in cyber security incident response, with a minimum five years of management experience.
• Strong technical skills in management, configuration, and support of security controls including network security, endpoint security, data protection and IAM.
• Demonstrated ability to engage diverse stakeholders and influence outcomes across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail for deliverables.
• Proven capability to lead cross-functional initiatives and implement robust security solutions.
• Commitment to UNSW’s aims, values and health & safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for cyber security incidents impacting UNSW and coordinate response with operational teams.
• Lead advanced investigations using digital forensics, malware analysis and network analysis to identify root causes and containment.
• Provide technical oversight to CSIRT on incident response, threat hunting and digital forensics services.
• Drive development and refinement of incident response processes aligned with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and MSSPs to maintain integrated incident response capabilities.
• Document PIRs and provide comprehensive post-incident analysis and recommendations.
