Job summary

Gauvin Group, Adelaide Head Office, seeks a Senior In-House Legal Counsel to lead a broad legal portfolio across FMCG and international operations. Youll work closely with Directors and the Executive Leadership Team to deliver practical legal advice that enables commercial decisions and growth.

Reporting to the CFO, youll oversee a wide range of matters including corporate governance, IP, regulatory compliance and strategic projects.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of corporate and commercial legal experience, in-house and/or private practice.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Black letter law capability with a commercial, practical mindset.
• Sound commercial judgement and a solutions-focused approach.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Manage corporate and commercial contracts, negotiations and advisory.
• Oversee IP, trademarks and brand protection.
• Governance, compliance and company secretarial duties.
• Manage commercial risk, disputes and regulatory matters.
• Handle property, insurance and employment law matters; support due diligence and M&A activities.

An exciting opportunity to make a real commercial impact in a growing Australian-owned business.

Gauvin Group is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior In-House Legal Counsel to join our Adelaide Head Office.

As the parent company of Haircare Group and evo, Gauvin Group operates across a diverse portfolio of FMCG, professional haircare and omnichannel businesses, with both Australian and international operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business, influencing strategic decisions and providing practical legal advice that enables commercial success.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering closely with our Managing Directors and Executive Leadership Team, you'll take ownership of a broad and varied legal portfolio, including:

• Corporate and commercial contracts, negotiations and advisory
• Intellectual property, trademarks and brand protection
• Corporate governance, compliance and company secretarial responsibilities
• Commercial risk management, disputes and regulatory matters
• Property, insurance and employment law matters
• Strategic projects, due diligence and M&A activities

You'll also lead and support our Legal Clerk, helping to deliver an effective and commercially responsive legal function across the Group.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a confident, pragmatic and commercially astute lawyer with:

• 5-7+ years' corporate and commercial legal experience, gained in-house and/or in private practice
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
• Black letter law capability combined with a commercial and practical mindset
• Sound commercial judgement and a solutions-focused approach
• The ability to build trusted relationships with senior executives and business leaders
• A current South Australian Practising Certificate
• Experience across FMCG, international commercial matters and intellectual property will be highly regarded.
