About This Opportunity

The Senior ICT Procurement Manager plays a critical role in leading strategic sourcing, procurement planning, and contract management across the ITS division. Working within a collaborative and high-performing team, this position partners with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and deliver best-practice procurement strategies that align with the University’s strategic direction. The role also provides leadership and guidance to team members, ensuring procurement activities are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in line with University and government policy frameworks.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading high-value, high-risk ICT procurement and contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with University policies and procurement best practices.
  • Developing and implementing fit-for-purpose procurement strategies, including spend, demand, and market analysis for ICT categories and sub-categories.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on ICT procurement policies, processes, and contracts while fostering strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Coaching and supporting team members to build strategic sourcing capability and contribute to continuous improvement across procurement practices.
  • Independently prepare ICT procurement contracts based on UQ’s specifications and approved template terms and manage the execution of ICT contracts

About You

You are a highly experienced procurement professional with specialist expertise in ICT strategic sourcing and contract management. With strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead complex procurement projects, you bring a balance of technical knowledge, negotiation skills, and stakeholder engagement experience. You thrive in dynamic environments, working independently while also guiding and supporting others to achieve outcomes aligned with organisational strategy.

You will demonstrate:

  • Qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT, business, commerce, law, or a related field, with extensive relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience).
  • Extensive experience in leading and advising on ICT strategic sourcing projects, from planning, risk management, and development of tender documentation through to vendor negotiation and contract delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement policy, procedures, and strategic sourcing processes as they apply to ICT procurement in large, complex organisations.
  • Expertise in commercial and contract negotiations, with experience developing and finalising ICT contracts, including independently drafting and assessing supplier terms.
  • Broad understanding of ICT industry drivers, trends, and category dynamics, with extensive experience managing high-value ICT sourcing projects end-to-end.
  • Proven ability to consult, influence, and build credibility with diverse stakeholders, balancing competing priorities to deliver successful procurement outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate persuasively and reconcile diverse perspectives.
  • Strong organisational and risk management skills, with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Leadership experience in coaching and supporting team members while effectively managing human and financial resources.
