Eagles Engineers is seeking a BESS Specialist to lead the technical integration of battery energy storage systems with the MV collector system and HV substation, from concept through commissioning. You will coordinate between OEMs, design teams, network service providers, and construction to ensure seamless handover.

The role requires a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Power Systems, 8+ years in HV power engineering, and hands-on experience with BESS design, GPS compliance, and advanced

Competenze

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical or Power Systems is required.
• Chartered status (CPEng/NER) or eligible, with RPEQ or state registration as applicable.
• 8+ years in HV power engineering, including 3+ years on utility-scale BESS or similar.
• Experience delivering grid-connected BESS from design to GPS/compliance.
• Experience with battery OEMs and network service providers.
• Strong knowledge of lithium-ion BESS, PCS/inverter control, HV/MV systems (480 V–66 kV+).
• Familiarity with AS/NZS standards and NER/grid rules; able to review ETAP/PSCAD studies.

Mansioni

• Lead technical integration of battery enclosures and PCS/inverter units into the balance-of-plant design.
• Define and verify collector system components: main transformer, 33 kV switchboards, RMUs, LV connections.
• Review ratings against short-circuit, load flow, and component studies; assess PCS fault contribution.
• Develop battery yard layouts for maintenance access, fire separation, and AS 2067 clearances.
• Coordinate grid studies with OEM models (PSS/E/PSCAD) and network service provider inputs.
• Lead safety-in-design for BESS hazards including thermal runaway and arc flash.
• Review design packages at 30%, 80%, IFC; support procurement with specs and vendor reviews.
• Oversee FAT, energisation, commissioning, and testing with the network service provider.
