Job summary

ALS Life Sciences seeks an experienced Senior Advisor HSE Projects to lead the national rollout of the HSE management system and harmonise practices across Victoria, SA and Tasmania. The six-month contract is based in Scoresby, with training delivery and regulatory liaison as core duties.

You will work with leaders, safety teams and HR to embed a strong safety culture, manage risk, and ensure compliance while providing guidance during leave coverage for the Senior HSE Advisor.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or related discipline.
• Experience as a strategic HSE advisor in a multi-site or high-risk environment.
• Experience managing psychosocial hazards.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, training and coaching skills.
• Proficiency in HSE management systems and MS Office.
• Current driver's license and ability to travel interstate.

• Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments and monthly performance reviews.
• Ensure psychosocial hazards are addressed through appropriate risk management processes.
• During leave coverage, guide HSE team members and support engagement with regulators and stakeholders.

The Role
ALS is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor HSE Projects for a six-month contract based in Scoresby. You will support the national rollout of ALS's global HSE management system and help harmonise HSE practices across operations in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. Working with business leaders, laboratory management, HSE teams, HR, HSRs and Safety Champions, you will provide practical advice, deliver training and embed consistent approaches to safety, risk management and regulatory compliance. The role will also provide temporary leave coverage for the Senior HSE Advisor for approximately 8-10 weeks.

The day to day

The essentials

You will have a tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, Environmental Science or a related discipline, supported by experience in a strategic HSE advisory role within a multi-site or high-risk environment. You will bring strong knowledge of Australian safety legislation, WorkSafe regulations, injury management and return-to-work practices, along with experience managing psychosocial hazards. Success in this role will also require excellent stakeholder engagement, training and coaching skills, proficiency in HSE management systems and Microsoft Office, and a proactive approach to risk and continuous improvement. A current driver's licence and the flexibility to travel interstate are essential.
