Job summary

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service in Caloundra, QLD, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Anatomical Pathology team. Qualifications

• Advanced histology techniques and procedures including routine and complex processing, special stains, IHC, IF, urgent frozen sections, and ancillary investigations.
• Independent professional judgment in testing to support accurate diagnosis and reporting.
• Compliance with accreditation, professional standards, and ethical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply advanced histology techniques and procedures, including routine and complex histological processing, special stains, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, urgent frozen section protocols, and ancillary investigations.
• Exercise advanced professional judgement in the performance, troubleshooting, validation and quality assurance of histological testing to support accurate clinical diagnosis and reporting.
• Independently undertake complex surgical specimen cut-up, diagnostic specimen management, testing and related activities in accordance with accredited protocols, professional standards, ethical requirements, and NPAAC standards.
• Provide a MOHS service, working with clinicians and surgeons for timely, clinically responsive delivery.
