Job summary

Sunshine Coast Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Anatomical Pathology team on a permanent part-time basis, delivering advanced histology services including MOHS collaboration.

You will perform routine and specialised histology procedures, contribute to accurate diagnoses, and work with clinicians to ensure timely and clinically responsive reporting. The role offers a supportive environment with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Independent professional judgement in histology analysis.
• Experience with routine and complex histological processing.
• Ability to perform expedited MOHS service in collaboration with clinicians.
• Compliance with accreditation standards (NPAAC) and ethical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply advanced histology techniques including processing, special stains, IHC, immunofluorescence, frozen sections.
• Exercise advanced professional judgement in testing quality assurance for diagnosis and reporting.
• Independently undertake complex surgical specimen cut-up and testing per protocols; escalate issues.
• Provide a specialist MOHS service, collaborating with clinicians and surgeons for timely delivery.
