Job summary

Biosis Australia is seeking a Senior Heritage Consultant or an experienced Heritage Consultant to join our Sydney team in a permanent role. You will apply your expertise across Aboriginal and historical archaeology, report to the Manager - Heritage (NSW), and contribute to project work, fieldwork, and client liaison.

You will lead fieldwork teams, mentor where possible, and handle administrative duties tied to projects.

Qualifications

• An archaeology degree (Honours) or a Masters in Archaeology or similar.
• 3-5+ years’ experience in heritage/archaeology.
• Demonstrated interest in Aboriginal archaeology and heritage.
• Experience in Aboriginal archaeology and heritage.
• Ability to work on-site and remote locations when needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Current and valid driver’s licence.
• Right to work in Australia to apply for this job.

Responsibilities

• Understand site patterning, land and formation processes affecting artefact survival for Aboriginal sites.
• Lead and contribute to fieldwork across Aboriginal and historical archaeology projects.
• Communicate with authorities, communities, clients, landowners, and the public about projects.
• Prepare and understand various reports required for heritage projects.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget, meeting client requirements and Biosis’ standards.
• Understand regulatory requirements and explain impacts to clients.

Biosis Australia is growing, and we’d love you to be part of it!

We are seeking a Senior Heritage Consultant, or an experienced Heritage Consultant ready to step into a senior-level role to join our Sydney team in a permanent basis, where you will apply your expertise to a diverse range of projects across both Aboriginal and historical archaeology. You will report to the Manager - Heritage (NSW).

You will play an active role in project work through participation in project teams, project management, fieldwork, and client liaison. Independence is encouraged through actively seeking mentoring and advice. Administrative duties include those incorporated as part of project work as well as additional duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• An understanding of site patterning, land and site formation processes on the locations and survival of artefacts for both Aboriginal sites.
• Lead and contribute to fieldwork projects across both Aboriginal archaeological projects.
• Demonstrated experience in communication and consultation with relevant authorities, communities, clients, landowners, and the public, in relation to own projects.
• Demonstrated experience in report writing and understand the different types of reports required.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget and meeting the client’s requirements. Understanding of and implementing Biosis' high standards.
• Understand the current regulatory requirements, their impact on our work and be able to explain to existing clients.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
