Job summary

Jemena is seeking a Senior GIS Developer to provide development and system administration support across spatial applications, interfaces, and tools. You will partner with stakeholders and fellow developers to deliver high-quality GIS solutions that improve field work and organisational operations.

The role balances technical development, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement for practical, real-world outcomes, with a collaborative team culture and safety focus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Development, Computer Science, IT, GIS or related discipline (or nearing graduation).
• Experience analysing, designing and supporting complex IT systems.
• Knowledge of Smallworld GIS or enterprise GIS platforms.
• Experience with object-oriented programming (Java, Python) and web tech (HTML, JS, Node.js).
• Database experience with PostgreSQL/VDMS and integration development.
• Familiarity with Git and ITIL/change-management practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and deliver GIS solutions.
• Design, develop, enhance and support enterprise GIS applications and integrations.
• Maintain and improve spatial systems, interfaces, reports and development tools.
• Contribute to full software development lifecycle from analysis to support.
• Produce clear technical documentation aligned with standards.
• Work within governance, security and change-management frameworks.
• Support project delivery with developers, project managers and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve system performance, usability and efficiency.
