The Opportunity

Veris are seeking aSenior Geospatial Developer to join our Data Insights & Solutions team in Melbourne. This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced open-source GIS developer who is equally comfortable building solutions and engaging directly with clients — someone who can draw out requirements in real time and workshop a technical solution on the fly.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

• Mid-to-senior level experience as an open-source GIS developer
• Strong client engagement skills, with the ability to elicit requirements and workshop solutions collaboratively and in real time
• Hands-on experience across some or all of: AWS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GeoServer, Mapbox/Maplibre, QGIS and GDAL, with advanced skills in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript and a strong applied knowledge of DevOps.
• Proven ability to translate client needs into practical, well-architected technical solutions
• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working autonomously on technical delivery
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with clients directly
