Peabody Energy is seeking a Senior Mining Geologist to join Coppabella Mine's Technical Services team. You will deliver accurate geological support to enable safe, efficient mining decisions and mentor a Graduate Geologist.
The role reports to the Coal Quality & Logistics Superintendent and involves short-term modelling and risk management. You will lead geological input across planning, geotechnical and production teams, while supervising a Graduate Geologist and advancing technical capability

Located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay in Queensland's Bowen Basin, Coppabella Mine is a key Peabody operation producing premium pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal for steelmaking customers around the world. As part of our Technical Services team, you'll contribute directly to the geological insights and operational decisions that support safe, efficient mining and maximise value from this world-class asset.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Mining Geologist to join the Technical Services team at Coppabella Mine. Reporting to the Coal Quality & Logistics Superintendent, you will play a critical role in delivering accurate, timely and fit-for-purpose geological support that enables safe, efficient and value-driven open cut mining outcomes.
This is a highly influential role where your expertise will directly support coal recovery, geological risk management, short-term modelling and operational decision-making. You will also have the opportunity to supervise and mentor a Graduate Geologist, helping develop future mining talent while strengthening technical capability across the operation.
This position is offered on an 8/6 roster, providing a strong balance between career opportunity and time at home. The role is available as FIFO from Brisbane or DIDO.
