About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Coal Quality Logistics Coordinator to join the Technical Services team at Coppabella Mine. Reporting to the Coal Quality & Logistics Superintendent, this role plays a critical part in supporting site operations by helping ensure coal quality and quantity consistently meet contractual specifications.

This is a niche, hybrid professional role sitting at the intersection of coal quality, logistics, CHPP operations, stockpile management and technical services. It is ideal for someone who understands how coal moves through the value chain and enjoys working across multiple teams to solve operational problems, optimise product value and support reliable delivery to customers.

You may come from an experienced geology background, a coal quality laboratory environment, CHPP or washplant operations, or a logistics background involving train or vessel scheduling. The leader for this function has come from a geology background, so the team understands the value of transferable technical experience and the importance of developing deeper coal value chain expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the coal quality value chain, including ROM stockpile inspections, coal movement tracking, stock level reporting and product performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate and optimise end to end logistics across site operations, corporate teams, rail networks and port terminals to support efficient coal movement.
  • Partner with Mine Production, Technical Planning Engineers and CHPP Process Engineers to align mining, stockpiling and coal preparation activities from a coal quality and logistics perspective.
  • Complete end-of-month stockpile reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
  • Liaise with Sales and Marketing teams to coordinate coal blending strategies that meet customer specifications and optimise product value.
  • Investigate coal quality outcomes delivered to customers and follow up where specifications have not met contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate and monitor the onsite laboratory to support contract compliance and quality of results.
  • Review logistics processes and identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs and support reliable product flow.
The Lifestyle

This position is offered on a 9 day fortnight roster, working Monday to Friday one week and Monday to Thursday the following week, giving you every second Friday off.

At Peabody, we invest in our people and the environments they work in. We offer:

  • Financial & Practical Support: Domestic relocation assistance, per Peabody policy, and novated leasing options.

About You

You will be a detail-focused, collaborative professional who can connect operational activity with coal quality and logistics outcomes. You enjoy working with data, investigating issues, communicating clearly with stakeholders and finding practical ways to keep coal moving safely and efficiently through the value chain.

This role may suit candidates from a range of coal industry backgrounds, including experienced geology, coal quality laboratory, CHPP or washplant operations, logistics, train scheduling or vessel scheduling.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Degree qualification in Process Engineering, Engineering, Geology, Mining or a related discipline.
  • Experience in open cut mining operations within the coal industry.
  • Exposure to coal quality, coal preparation, stockpile management, logistics or product scheduling.
  • Ideally, experience working in or alongside a CHPP environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to investigate and resolve issues or anomalies.
