Job summary

WSP in Australia is expanding its Geo-Environmental Engineering team in Sydney. The role focuses on leading complex projects in waste, water, and mining sectors, while building strong client relationships across Australia.

You will mentor junior engineers and ensure technical excellence across design and execution phases. The successful candidate will bring solid detailed design experience, a background in waste management, and strong communication skills to drive multidisciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering, supported by at least 7 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience delivering high-quality, detailed design documentation.
• Technical expertise in waste management including landfill design, leachate collection and treatment, geosynthetics, capping, and resource recovery
• Ability to assess subsurface environmental risks, embankments, complex earthworks, and surface water management systems.
• Proficiency in using design software and tools to produce accurate, constructible, and compliant engineering designs.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders; strong team leadership.
• Mentoring and guiding junior to senior engineers with sound project delivery decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver projects focused on waste management, water infrastructure, and mining.
• Develop cutting-edge geo-environmental solutions and integrate waste management into broader infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review technical documentation across planning, design, and execution phases.
• Build and maintain client relationships to support project delivery and business development.
• Oversee quality and risk management across geo-environmental engineering tasks.
• Mentor engineers and lead multidisciplinary project teams.
