About the Role
We’re hiring an experienced Senior Full Stack / Mobile TypeScript engineer to join on a 6‑month contract (contractor basis) with potential to extend or convert to full-time.
You’ll work directly with the CTO to build a brand new React Native mobile app while supporting maintenance on an existing Flutter mobile app. At the same time, you’ll contribute to our Node.js backend running on Firebase / GCP and enhance internal web tools (React).
This role offers real ownership: lead important projects, help shape engineering practices, and make meaningful technical decisions at a company-wide level.
Contract range: $70,000–$90,000 AUD for 6 months (no super/leave entitlements)
- Web stack: React + TypeScript
- Backend: Node.js / TypeScript on Firebase / GCP
- Integrations: RESTful APIs; Stripe (nice to have)
- Mobile contexts: iOS and Android native integrations, NFC payments, Tap‑to‑Pay functionality
Required Skills
- 4+ years of solid mobile development experience supporting both iOS and Android
- Proven expertise in React Native, TypeScript, React, and Node.js
- Comfortable working across frontend and backend domains, including REST API design and consumption
- Ability to dive into legacy code (Flutter) and contribute to overall codebase quality
- Self‑motivated communicator who can take initiative in a small, agile team
Nice to Have
- Experience with Stripe (payment integration)
- Familiarity with Flutter / Dart
- Hands-on exposure to Firebase / GCP infrastructure and tooling
- Interest in fintech, payments, or charitable payment flows
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain and update our existing Flutter mobile app (short term)
- Design and build a new React Native app from scratch
- Collaborate on backend features and internal tools powered by Node.js and Firebase
- Work with the CTO to make architectural and product decisions
