Job summary

Software at Scale in Australia is seeking a Senior Staff Full Stack Engineer to lead architectural strategy across critical programs. You will own end-to-end design across TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js, setting standards and guiding multiple squads in a high-trust, empowered environment.

You will leverage enterprise AI tooling, including Claude Code, to accelerate development, uphold security and performance, and deliver production-grade systems with robust GraphQL APIs and scalable

• Staff level leadership in modern engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of system design and 12 factor app principles.
• Production-grade TypeScript on client and server in monorepos.
• Experience with React and Next.js for high-performance apps.
• Backend services in Node.js with GraphQL APIs.
• Strong security and performance focus across stacks.
• Delivery-focused mindset leveraging AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• End to End Architecture: design, build, and scale production-grade systems with TS/React/Next.js/Node.js; set engineering standards.
• Identify bottlenecks and craft creative solutions across squads.
• Own system design and production operations with 12 factor principles.
• Architect resilient software for legacy integration and complex APIs.
• Design and implement GraphQL APIs on backend and consume on frontend.
• Optimize for Core Web Vitals and fast render times with Next.js features.
• Ensure secure development in enterprise environments.
• Develop and maintain pipelines using GitHub Actions or TeamCity and containerized workflows with Docker.
