Job summary

Publicis Sapient, a digital transformation partner, seeks a senior front-end engineer in Canberra to craft scalable, accessible UIs and prototype rapidly with AI-assisted tooling. You will align with REST/GraphQL APIs, contribute across the stack when needed, and collaborate closely with client teams to translate business problems into delightful experiences.

You’ll own high-quality front-end delivery, optimize performance, and apply modern testing and tooling while leveraging cloud services

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering with front-end mastery.
• Deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Sitecore or Angular).
• Translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive UIs and use design systems.
• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and some backend exposure.
• Focus on Core Web Vitals, bundle size, accessibility and WCAG.
• Prototyping focus: turn problems into working interactive prototypes quickly.
• Experience with unit/e2e testing (Jest, RTL, Playwright/Cypress).
• Cloud deployment experience on AWS, GCP or Azure; adaptable to new services.

Experience Required

• Front-end mastery – you bring 6+ years of software engineering with deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Sitecore or Angular), TypeScript/JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3, and you build scalable, testable, component-driven interfaces.
• Design-to-code craftsmanship – you translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive UIs, work fluently with design systems andcomponentlibraries, and care deeply about micro-interactions,motionand visual polish.
• Full-stack versatility – while your depth is on the front end, you are comfortable integrating with REST/GraphQLAPIs and can contribute across the stack (Node.js, Python or Java) when the work demands it.
• Performance &accessibilityfocus – youoptimisefor Core Web Vitals, bundle size,renderingperformance and cross-browserbehaviour, and you build inclusive, accessible experiences that meet WCAG standards.
• A bias for rapid prototyping – youturna loosely defined problem into a working, interactive prototype in days, and let real user feedback rather than a perfect specdriveeach iteration.
• Modern testing & tooling – you work hands-on across the SDLC with unit,componentand end-to-end testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress) and modern build tooling (Vite, Webpack, CI/CD).
• An AI-led approach to building – you reach for AI coding assistants and agentic tooling by default to movefaster, andcan build the guardrails that make front-end delivery reliable and consistent.
• Hands-on cloud experience – you have deployed front-end applications on AWS, GCP or Azure (CDNs, edge, serverless) and pick up new cloud services quickly as the work demands.
• A client-facing mindset – you work embedded alongside client teams, translate business problems into experience solutions, and explain trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
