Job summary

Publicis Sapient in Canberra is seeking a senior frontend engineer to turn Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces. You will work with design systems, contribute across the stack when needed, and prototype quickly while collaborating with client teams.

You will emphasize performance, accessibility, AI-assisted workflows, and cloud deployment on AWS/GCP/Azure. The role blends craft, collaboration, and hands-on testing across the SDLC.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software engineering with deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Sitecore or Angular), TS/JS (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive UIs, work with design systems and component libraries, and care about micro-interactions, motion and polish.
  • REST/GraphQL API integration and contributing across the stack (Node.js, Python or Java) when needed.
  • Performance & accessibility focus, optimise Core Web Vitals, bundle size, rendering performance and cross-browser behaviour, WCAG compliant.
  • Rapid prototyping: convert loosely defined problems into working interactive prototypes within days.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive UIs.
  • Integrate with REST/GraphQL APIs and contribute across the stack (Node.js, Python, Java).
  • Prototype rapidly to gather user feedback and drive iterations.
  • Perform unit, component and end-to-end testing (Jest, RTL, Playwright/Cypress) and use modern build tools (Vite, Webpack, CI/CD).
  • Use AI coding assistants and tooling to move faster while ensuring reliability.
  • Deploy front-end apps on AWS, GCP or Azure and adapt cloud services as needed.

Job description

Job Description
  • Design-to-code craftsmanship – you translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive UIs, work fluently with design systems and component libraries, and care deeply about micro-interactions, motion and visual polish.
  • Full-stack versatility – while your depth is on the front end, you are comfortable integrating with REST/GraphQL APIs and can contribute across the stack (Node.js, Python or Java) when the work demands it.
  • A bias for rapid prototyping – you turn a loosely defined problem into a working, interactive prototype in days, and let real user feedback rather than a perfect spec drive each iteration.
  • Modern testing & tooling – you work hands-on across the SDLC with unit, component and end-to-end testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress) and modern build tooling (Vite, Webpack, CI/CD).
  • An AI-led approach to building – you reach for AI coding assistants and agentic tooling by default to move faster, and can build the guardrails that make front-end delivery reliable and consistent.
  • Hands-on cloud experience – you have deployed front-end applications on AWS, GCP or Azure (CDNs, edge, serverless) and pick up new cloud services quickly as the work demands.
  • A client-facing mindset – you work embedded alongside client teams, translate business problems into experience solutions, and explain trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike.
Experience Required
  • Front-end mastery – you bring 6+ years of software engineering with deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Sitecore or Angular), TypeScript/JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3, and you build scalable, testable, component-driven interfaces.
  • Performance & accessibility focus – you optimise for Core Web Vitals, bundle size, rendering performance and cross-browser behaviour, and you build inclusive, accessible experiences that meet WCAG standards.
