SMS Mining Services is seeking a Senior FP&A & Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Finance team at our Head Office in High Wycombe. This hands-on role reports to the CFO and partners with operational leaders and the Executive Team to lead planning, model value drivers, automate data inputs and deliver trusted executive insight.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, reforecasting and long-range planning with consolidation and reporting.
• Develop driver-based models linking utilisation, labour, costs and capex to outcomes.
• Deliver scenario and performance analyses showing risks and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for management reporting.
• Prepare monthly performance analysis, including actuals vs budget and forecast.
• Automate forecasting, reporting and data processes with cross-functional teams.
• Support business cases, investments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with bids and ops teams to model tenders and commercial returns.
• Present recommendations to the CFO for approval.

Senior FP&A & Business Intelligence Analyst

SMS Mining Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior FP&A & Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Finance team at our Head Office in High Wycombe.

This is a hands-on and influential role reporting to the CFO and partnering closely with operational leaders and the Executive Team. It replaces a traditional business analyst profile with a commercially focused position that can lead planning, model operational value drivers, automate data inputs and produce trusted executive insight.

Business leaders own their operational assumptions, forecasts, commitments and resulting actions. This role owns the planning framework, models, timetable, consolidation, data quality, challenge process and translation of business inputs into financial outcomes and scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, reforecasting and long-range planning, including financial models, consolidation and executive reporting.
• Develop driver-based financial and operational models linking utilisation, fleet availability, labour, maintenance, projects, costs, working capital and capital expenditure to business outcomes.
• Deliver scenario, sensitivity and performance analysis to identify key drivers, risks, opportunities and their impact on revenue, EBITDA, cash flow and returns.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and management reporting that provide clear, consistent and actionable business insight.
• Prepare monthly performance analysis and executive reporting, including actuals versus budget and forecast, trends, root causes and emerging issues.
• Improve and automate forecasting, reporting and data processes, working with Finance, Operations and Technology to strengthen data quality, governance and reporting controls.
• Support commercial evaluations, business cases, investment decisions and continuous improvement initiatives through robust financial and operational analysis.
• Partner with bid and operational teams to develop integrated tender models covering pricing, revenue, margin, mobilisation, labour, fleet, maintenance, working capital, capital investment and returns.
• Lead scenario and sensitivity analysis for tenders, clearly documenting assumptions, risks and opportunities and presenting commercial recommendations to the CFO for approval.

About You

You will lead the company-wide budgeting, forecasting and planning framework, while maintaining ownership of operational forecasts within the business. You will drive an efficient and increasingly automated process for collecting and validating inputs, connecting operational drivers to financial performance, and providing clear analysis and scenario insights to support management and Board decision-making.

You will bring:

• Strong FP&A experience, with a proven ability to independently lead and coordinate company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Advanced financial modelling and scenario analysis skills, with the ability to translate operational drivers into financial, cash flow and business outcomes.
• Strong Power BI capability, including data modelling, DAX, dashboard development and translating business requirements into clear, actionable insights.
• Advanced Excel skills, with confidence working with large, complex and imperfect datasets across multiple systems.
• Strong commercial acumen and judgement, with the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and influence business decisions while maintaining clear accountability with operational leaders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distil complex financial and operational information into concise insights for senior management and Board audiences.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Analytics or a related discipline. CA or CPA qualification is desirable.
• Experience in mining services, equipment rental, heavy industry, asset-intensive or project-based businesses will be highly regarded.
