Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, you will assume a dual role, combining forensic and design engineering responsibilities. You will conduct thorough forensic investigations to determine the cause of damage for insurance claims or asset/building owners and prepare detailed causation reports and Scopes of Works. Additionally, you will develop comprehensive design packages for the repair and remediation of the identified damage.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and assess the condition of existing buildings and structures to determine the cause of damage.
  • Identify design and construction defects with reference to code and damage causation.
  • Collect data using photographic equipment.
  • Accurately and detailed recording of data whilst on-site.
  • Prepare detailed computations for the repair of small to medium structures.
  • Deliver design documentation including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide construction-phase support on a wide array of projects.
Qualifications
  • At least 10 years’ industry experience, with experience as a forensic engineer ideal.
  • Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
  • Chartered Engineer and/or Registered on the National Engineers Register (NER).
  • Interstate accreditations will be considered including Registered Building Practitioner, Victoria (RPEV) and Registered Professional Engineer, Queensland (RPEQ).
  • Proven experience with structural design software such as Spacegass, Structural Toolkit, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of the insurance industry (claims lifecycle) including the legislative framework, applicable codes and products.
