Job summary

Country Fire Authority (CFA) in Victoria is seeking a Senior Officer Engineering to provide technical expertise across CFA’s fleet and capital build programs. You will review, develop and evaluate emergency response vehicle designs to ensure safety, reliability and compliance with CFA and industry standards.

You will work closely with Engineering Project Managers, Fleet Operations, manufacturers and suppliers to contribute to vehicle configuration, technical design, procurement and continuous

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical/automotive engineering.
• Experience developing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Experience supporting compliance with Australian Standards, ADRs, ergonomic and safety-in-design principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for firefighting and specialist vehicles.
• Assist in vehicle configuration, stowage layouts, locker designs and bracketry.
• Provide technical content and imagery for manuals and documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturers to resolve warranty issues and post-delivery problems.
• Research new manufacturing methods and propose design improvements.
• Provide evidence-based technical advice to support design, procurement and production decisions.
• Assess supplier proposals against engineering, operational and compliance requirements.
• Support investigations into vehicle reliability and safety issues and identify root causes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for performance, safety and life-cycle cost.
• Promote best-practice engineering principles across CFA’s Fleet environment.
