Job summary

Fortescue seeks a Principal Category Management to lead procurement across fixed plant categories at our Perth office. You will provide specialist advice and partner with the Iron Bridge team to align sourcing with operational goals.

You will mentor the procurement team, shape category strategies, and drive end-to-end sourcing, contracting, and SRM, delivering value and robust governance.

Qualifications

• Significant, demonstrable experience in a senior procurement or category management role (7–10 years).
• Understanding of fixed plant maintenance and mining operations is highly regarded.
• Strong drafting, commercial analysis and negotiation skills; able to lead complex sourcing and contracting activities.
• Ability to negotiate independently on commercial terms, including liability, IP, and disputes.
• Demonstrated leadership to mentor and develop procurement specialists and teams.
• Experience with SAP, Ivalua, Excel and MS Word is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic business plans with Contracts & Procurement leadership to support operational objectives.
• Lead category management strategies for fixed plant equipment and services.
• Direct end-to-end sourcing, supplier evaluation and innovative procurement solutions.
• Lead contracting and negotiation strategies for high-value, high-risk arrangements.
• Manage disputes and claims with commercial strategies and risk escalation.
• Deliver value through effective SRM at senior levels and governance.
