About the opportunity
There are currently two (2) permanent full-time positions available for immediate filling.
These positions are both based in Broome .
Broome has many exciting surrounds to explore, and some of the best barramundi and demersal and pelagic fishing there is. There are numerous places to see and do close to town and further out in the region including the Gibb River Road, Dampier Peninsular and 80 Mile Beach.
As a Senior Fisheries and Marine Officer you will lead compliance and enforcement activities related to fisheries and marine legislation. This role involves overseeing investigations, surveillance, community education and mentoringemployees in compliance activities. You will be responsible for planning and conducting patrols, as well as supporting prosecution processes. Additionally, you will provide guidance on the interpretation of legislation, contribute to the development of operational policies and improving compliance strategies. Engaging with the community ensuring they are obeying the law and aware of consequences.
It is essential that you have possession of current relevant maritime qualifications and experience in operating and maintaining vessels, 4WD vehicles and associated equipment.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
