Stantec is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our networked Fire Services team in Australia and NZ. The role focuses on leading fire protection design across diverse projects, from concept to commissioning, with responsibility for client relations and technical excellence.

You will contribute to complex fire protection schemes, ensure compliance with NCC and Australian Standards, and mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified, NER listed and FPAS.
• Experience planning and managing successful projects.
• Strong knowledge of the NCC and Australian Standards.
• Familiar with local fire system certification processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage projects from concept to installation and commissioning.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure successful project delivery.
• Design Fire Protection Services including sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, detection, and suppression systems for complex projects.
• Represent Stantec externally and manage client relationships.
• Prepare and present client presentations.
• Delegate tasks to junior engineers and provide feedback for development.
• Contribute to in-house discussions and design reviews.
• Track deliverables and meet project timeframes.
• Provide input during the Construction phase and conduct site inspections.

Senior Fire Protection Engineer - (260000KL)

Description

We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our networked Fire Services team on a full-time basis. We are a collaborative team working on iconic and exciting projects including mission critical, retail, hotels, commercial, residential, shopping centres, industrial, defense, healthcare, correctional and education buildings across Australia and NZ.

Ideally you will have a strong background in fire protection engineering and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. The role will enable the successful candidate to develop in a professional and personal sense and to forge a challenging and rewarding career path in a successful international consultancy.

Day To Day Tasks Would Involve

• Responsible for planning and managing projects from initial concept and brief, through to installation and commissioning.
• Demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge, providing oversight and supervision to ensure successful project delivery.
• Provide technical competence in the planning and design of Fire Protection Services (not limited to Automatic Sprinkler System, Fire Hydrant Systems, Fire Hose Reel, Fire Detection / Emergency Warning Systems, Portable Fire Extinguishers / Fire Blankets, Gas Suppression / Water Mist Systems) for complex projects.
• Represent Stantec externally to Clients, playing a senior and active role in managing these relationships.
• Prepare and present presentations to external clients.
• Delegate tasks to junior engineers, provide feedback and contribute to their development
• Bring value to in-house discussions, design, project meetings etc.
• Keep up to date with deliverables and meet project timeframes.
• Provide input throughout the Construction phase by attending meetings and conducting site inspections.

What We Are Ideally Looking For

• Extensive experience working within a design consultancy environment.
• Degree qualified, NER listed and either have FPAS or the years of completed projects available to be referenced to obtain FPAS.
• Have experience planning and managing successful projects.
• Strong Technical knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Relevant Australian Standards.
• Ability to review Fire Engineering Brief (FEB) and Fire Engineering Report (FER) and liaise with Fire Safety Engineers to establish Fire Safety Engineering Performance Solutions.
• Experience in development of, or identifying the potential for, Fire Engineered Performance Solutions will be considered favorable, however not necessary for the role.
• Familiar with local fire system certification processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
