Stantec Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer Lead to join our Melbourne Buildings team. The role blends technical leadership with business development and client engagement in a full-time capacity.

Based in Melbourne, you will work with the Brisbane Fire team and leverage national support to drive project success, expand client relationships, and pursue new business opportunities across diverse building projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Engineer status or equivalent is required.
• Accreditation in Victoria (Certifier - Fire Safety) is required.
• Experience in a design consultancy with client engagement and project leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages.
• Proactive, solutions-focused with client relationship growth.
• Technical expertise in fire safety design, analysis and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Collaborative, can-do attitude in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings and calculations supporting design concepts and assess Building Code of Australia compliance.
• Deliver technically sound designs, reports and specifications across sectors.
• Prepare FEB/FEBQ and develop solutions to FER.
• Liaise with local authorities, clients and consultant teams.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to cross-functional collaboration.
• Drive business development and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
• Mentor and support junior engineers to foster excellence.

Due to a busy pipeline of projects, we are looking for an experienced Senior Fire Engineer Lead to join our Melbourne Buildings team. This is a full-time role that blends technical excellence with business development and client engagement.

This role will be based in Melbourne, however will work closely with the Brisbane Fire team. With the support of the wider Fire team across Australia, this role will assist and support this Senior Engineer in playing a pivotal role in driving project success, expanding client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities across a diverse portfolio of building projects. Your ability to lead from the front—both technically and commercially—will be key to your success.

What you’ll be doing:

• Prepare drawings and calculations in support of design concepts and determine whether the performance solution complies with the relevant performance requirements of the Building Code of Australia
• Deliver technically sound and innovative designs, reports, and specifications across sectors including health, defence, high-rise, industrial, and education.
• Preparation of Fire Engineering Brief (FEB) and/or Fire Engineering Brief Questionnaire (FEBQ), and develop solutions through to final Fire Engineering Report (FER)
• Liaise with local authorities, clients and consultant team
• Attend project meetings
• Drive business development initiatives, identifying and pursuing new project opportunities and nurturing long-term client partnerships.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For:

• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent
• Accreditation in Victoria (Certifier - Fire Safety)
• Proven experience in a design consultancy environment, with a track record of client engagement and project leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages of delivery.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for building client relationships and growing business pipelines.
• Technical expertise in fire safety design, analysis, and risk assessment
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
